Holidays with Picasso in a converted railcar with driver's cab

Picasso Railway Inn | Unique holiday appartement for 4 persons in a converted railcar of the type 'Picasso' - a train with a side-mounted tower-like driver's cab, which was one of the most striking vehicles in the second half of the 20th century in #France | Train accommodation with its own terrace and a lot of original substance
Picasso Railway Inn
Unique not only in France: close to the bay of Lorient, this unusual apartment is located in an old railcar from the 1950s

The conversion into a comfortable accommodation for up to six people kept as much of the original substance as possible. In addition to the typical furnishings of a train, the apartment for railway nostalgics also offers access to the tower-like raised driver's cab, which gave the vehicle its unmistakable appearance and nickname' Picasso'.

The modern equipment with heating, air-conditioning, flat-screen TV, private bathroom and kitchen is in a refreshing contrast to the original ambience of the railway-technical oldie, which was used on the French railway network until 1988.

Not only lovers of railways will be fascinated by this unadulterated holiday accommodation. Placed on a railway siding in the garden of a country inn, the decommissioned motor coach of the X3876 series has found a new lease of life as an overnight accommodation on wheels after extensive renovation.

The driver's cockpit, which is mounted on the side of the roof like a crooked nose, gave the track its nickname' Picasso', following the Cubist portraits of the painter. This made this model one of the most striking rail vehicles to be seen in France in the second half of the 20th century.

Another special feature of the railcar is the engine behind the windshield. The engine room and the adjoining passenger area now house the 40-square-metre Picasso apartment, which also leads to the driver's cab.

After complete dismantling, the railcar was completely renovated and, in addition to double glazing and insulation, received new electrical wiring, heating, air conditioning and a modern standard sanitary area. Windows, doors, ceilings and the walk-in driver's cabin were largely preserved in their original condition. Authenticity is also ensured by the remaining furniture such as tables and seating for 6 persons, folding seats, luggage racks and two berths.

Guests enjoy the modern comforts of a new bathroom with shower and toilet, flat-screen TV and free Internet (Wifi). In addition to a bedroom with a double bed and allergic bed linen, the apartment has two sleeping berths and a further living room with two single beds, where an extravagant floor window opens up the view of the normally hidden vehicle substructure. Original woollen blankets from the state railway company with the SNCF logo woven in serve as bedspreads.

The practical kitchen equipment with fridge, sink, combi oven contains all the necessary utensils for preparing breakfast and other meals.

In the adjacent main house guests will find a bar, restaurant and reception. On a private terrace you can eat self-made meals in the open air. The accommodation is an ideal starting point for trips through southern Brittany and offers a wealth of tips and information that will make your stay particularly rewarding.

As a charming souvenir, personalised 'tickets' are available at the reception desk at check-in. There you can also rent a multimedia tablet containing films and documentaries on the history of the railcar, photos of the conversion as well as animated cartoons and railway-related games.

By the way, suitable props such as a train driver's hat are available for all those who have been prevented and would-be train drivers, which is also suitable for a souvenir photo.

Sleep inside a Coconut Cream Pie and dream from Gilligan's Island

Travel to New York and stay in the Coconut Cream Pie Suite | Theme room with coconut scent and ceiling structure with decor of a cream cake | This luxurious accommodation north of New York will delight fans of the legendary US-sitcom 'Gilligan's Island' with its allusive furnishings in Robinson style | Guests will be able to enjoy the peace and privacy of a solitary South Sea island and - while looking up - dreaming of a yummy piece of a coconut cream pie. Well get it!
Coconut Cream Pie Suite
This kitschy lodging north of New York City is a tribute to the 60s US-Sitcom 'Gilligan's Island'

Fancy a coconut cream cake? This unusual themed room in the Catskill Mountains just outside New York is inspired by the baking arts of a female protagonist from the 1960s cult series' Gilligan's Island'. The Robinsonade at seven stranded people on an island knows every child in the USA. And Mary Ann's coconut cake is a legend, of course!

In the eccentric hotel suite, guests can not only indulge in the nostalgic old TV episodes of the sitcom, but also experience what it feels like to spend the night inside a coconut cake. The ceiling of the room is modelled on a huge cream hood from which the coconut cream drips down into appetizing spots.

No wonder that even the air emanates a slight smell of coconut and enhances the surreal touch of the room. Those who have always been fascinated by the idea of being stranded on an exotic island will find their money's worth here - just like series fans and cake lovers who love cream orgies!

Ginger or Mary Ann? The choice for one of the two female protagonists from the American shipwrecked series 'Gilligan's Island' is not only a hard decision for the disgruntled fans of the sitcom from the 60s. To this day, it is still the common question of the preferred female type of American men, which has become anchored in the colloquial language over generations of television viewers.

Whether male or female, there is hardly an American without a clear standpoint on this question of taste.

As far as cooking and baking is concerned, and especially the preparation of dreamlike coconut cream cakes, Mary Ann is clearly favoured by connoisseurs. But her creamy creations were as utopian for a lonely island as a hotel with a room that feels and looks as if you were inside a cake - complete with creamy decorations and a tort ring-shaped bed. Kitsch for the one, but a true overnight stay dream for enthusiastic confectioners and uninhibited gourmets on the other hand.

Those who book a night in this literally tasty guest suite will be served the whole story. The story of a fateful journey that has cost seven exhausting months of development work! And the answer to the exciting question of how a blanket of whipped cream should look like. But such questions seem secondary when you are lying on the round bed and looking up. Then you just feel like spooning some of it!

The serial hero Gilligan embodied an intrepid sailor, but you can bet he would have melted like a creamy little cherry in the South Seas sun if he had seen the inviting cushions in the form of oversized cream spots on the bed! Due to its circular shape, it has a queen rather than king-size format. It is therefore advisable to spoon up the cake a little more thoroughly than usual.

All right, or any more questions?

A 50-inch flat-screen TV with DVD player is located on the opposite side of the wall opposite the bed to fill any existing knowledge gaps in American pop culture with a few illuminating episodes of' Gilligan's Island'. There is also a dining area with a small fridge, microwave oven and coffee machine. Because you probably need one or two cups of black coffee to' digest' the heavy coconut cream cream cream orgy!

To aptly describe the colour of the bathroom tiles, it is best to bring a soft idea of creamy coconut with beige butterscotch vanilla pudding. Combined with the seductively smelling coconut soap from local production, it could happen that the water runs through your mouth while bathing before you get your appetite. But not to let any false hope arise: the tiles are (unfortunately) literally tasteless, because 100% made of recycled car windshield glass!

Incidentally, the spacious bathtub in the unusual accommodation has a capacity of just under 322 litres of water (85 gallons) and is equipped with double shower heads. Nothing stands in the way of a bathing pleasure lasting several hours for 2 persons!

But the hotel in the foothills of the Apalachen is more than just the sum of a total of 28 themed rooms dedicated to almost all popular TV series. The hospitality of the best people is celebrated here, with a caring and attentive staff, impeccable equipment, free coffee in the morning, a manageable but very exquisite spa and many small treats that will make your stay unforgettable.

Love Nest
Enchanting Forest Cabin in Belgium with nest-like bed under the roof

The densely wooded Ardennes form the picture book scenery for 20 differently designed eco lodges that guarantee a romantic getaway in a wild environment. All cabins have a living room, kitchen, wardrobe and dry toilets, but only one of them has a real nest for cuddling and sleeping.

The bed made of woven hazelnut rods, fixed over a ceiling beam, is equipped with a comfortable mattress and with a diameter of 2.20 metres offers enough space for two lovebirds. The cosy hiding place under the roof is accessible via a ladder made of birch wood and does credit to a veritable bird sanctuary.

As a romantic oasis in the middle of the forest, this unusual accommodation combines the criteria for sustainable and environmentally friendly construction with the desire for near-natural comfort without having to forego modern amenities.

The imaginative love nest was designed personally by the landlord, a former banker, and is now in great demand not only on weekends and holidays. The combination of untreated wood and simple but refined decoration gives the hut the appropriate nest warmth and an intimate atmosphere.

After nightfall, the unusual accommodation made of completely natural building materials is transformed into a cosy cocoon, which surrounds the guests with irresistible magic.

If you are looking for tranquillity and seclusion, you will find a perfect retreat for fairytale hours in the 30 square meter chalet. The location far enough from the nearest lodge guarantees maximum privacy and an undisturbed stay.

In summer, the partly covered terrace and a 100 m² garden with garden table and chairs offer plenty of space for outdoor recreation. Especially in the winter months, the traditional wooden bathtub from Japan provides total relaxation. In the land of the rising sun, the so-called Ofuro has not only been appreciated for centuries for its seductive appearance; incidentally, the bath in the wooden tub is also said to have a healing effect on joints and blood circulation. This type of spa is therefore well received by young and old alike.

Guests also benefit at any time of the year from the special high-performance insulation, which stores heat on cool days and provides pleasant room temperatures in summer.

The exclusivity of the self-catering hut is underlined by the extensive kitchen equipment. In addition to high-quality cookware and all the basic utensils (wine glasses, corkscrew, serving plate), a mini oven, microwave oven, fridge and freezer, cooker, filter coffee machine, toaster and even a fruit press are available, so that nothing stands in the way of culinary happiness.

Traditionally, the Ardennes are less associated with romantic fairy tales than with legends of werewolves, devils and witchcraft. So it's good to know that the lonely pergola is located in an area which, according to legend, was exceptionally populated by fairies and good witches.

But you don't have to ring that bell! After all, charming shower stories promote affection and add an exciting touch to the idyllic accommodation. In the security of the bird's nest your partner will cuddle even closer to you.

So don't miss it and make a note if your daily routine or relationship needs new impetus!

Stay with your trophy in a rustic Hunter's Cabin

Hunting Cabin in Austria | This rustic room looks like a hunting lodge with an original toilet on top of an indoor hunting stall and hunting trophies on the wall. Birch trunks and wood furnishings take guests to a hunting ground in the forest
Hunter's Cabin
This thematically designed hotel suite in Styria (Austria) is based on a traditional hunting lodge

'Hunter' and 'deer' in this unusual adventure room in Styria await a productive hunting ground for a merry hunt. From the hunting trophy on the wall to the toilet on the high-seat, the suite offers the perfect setting for a successful hunt to blow off the Halali.

In these four walls you can tell your chosen high-seat partner as much Hunter-Latin as you like. In the end, success is all that counts - and a comfortable bed, where all hunting efforts are rewarded by putting on the compliant 'booty'.

Poaching is also allowed as an exception, because the only witness of the lively activity is a (crowded) capercaillie.

In this themed room, also passionate occasional hunters without a hunting licence are allowed to take up the trail, and there is no need to fear controls by the hunting authorities. Thus one can dedicate oneself (or woman) completely unscrupulously to the difficult hunt for the most capital deer on the highest of all mountains.

The 'territory' is manageable, and success is only a matter of time. The view is best maintained from the hunting pulpit, which can be reached via a ladder. High above, instead of the usual field, forest and meadow solutions, an original toilet is waiting for you!

The forest ranger fortune also includes wood-panelled walls with roe-deer antlers, a birch trunk with branches as high as the ceiling and a bed in log-house style.

The 'state parlour' also gains authentic flair with nostalgic details such as green loden hats, an old black dial telephone or a picturesque bird house. As a very special luxury, the 'hunting society' has its own whirltub for relaxing breaks.

The unusual accommodation in the family-run hotel is one of a total of 19 nostalgic themed accommodations with an accentuated rustic atmosphere and different experience characteristics. Thematically everything revolves around the 'good old days', which are kept alive with loving memories of special moments from the Styrian past.

The rooms invite you to get away from everyday life and discover a lost world without hectic pace and conformity. The hotel itself was built using historical elements. Even the furnishings are mostly made of old wood, which comes from our own carpentry workshop. The concept for the playful hotel rooms was also developed there.

To the comfortable furnishings of the room belong hairdryer, satellite TV, radio and CD player including cuddly skirt CD and further attentions such as a kettle with several kinds of tea, bath salts, bathrobe and slippers, as well as free care products.

Available upon reservation is the wellness area of the hotel with steam sauna, Finnish sauna and an infrared cabin. The offer also includes spa treatments such as "couple romance", deep muscular relaxation, spinal wellness and massages (all for an extra charge).

The overnight price contains a hearty breakfast buffet including several kinds of bread rolls, fresh bread, ham, sausage, cheese, various spreads, muesli, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, jams, Nutella and cakes. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a warm welcome with sparkling wine.

Who already knows Styria will probably have made yet acquaintance with the excellent cuisine and the traditional restaurants. Those who are here for the first time should definitely use the stay for a culinary excursion. Many restaurants in the region even offer helicopter service from Vienna and other major cities.

Why Coca Cola lovers dream of this brand designed apartment on Malta

Coca Cola themed hotel Suite on Malta | Taste the feeling - this luxury hotel room in 1960's style is designed with support of the Coca Cola Company and is equipped with many vintage brand references | Highlights are the jukebox with American Diner furniture and a private tasting bar | Malta is among the leaders in per capita Coca-Cola consumption in Europe, so the island is perfect for a suite dedicated to the world famous soft drink
Coca Cola Brand Suite
Tast the feeling in a luxury apartment dedicated to the famous soft drink

The Coca Cola Suite on Malta combines nostalgic retro style of the 60s with contemporary pleasure in a unique room setting. As one of the countries with the highest per capita consumption of Coca Cola in Europe, the Mediterranean island offers the ideal backdrop to celebrate the cult drink with its own themed room.

In cooperation between one of the leading local hotels and the worldwide operating beverage brand, a stylish apartment with an experience character has been created, which will conjure up a smile on the face of all Coke lovers.

Jukebox & brand Memorabilia
The interplay of innovative brand management, modern hotel flair and original retro elements follows a trend in the hotel industry, but it is rarely implemented so consistently.

The high-end suite in the northeast of Malta replaces the traditionally replaceable (conventional) overnight stay with a hotel room with a personal touch (up to bed linen) that is unique in the world. Unique gadgets such as Jukebox, Coca Cola Memorabilia and specially designed American diner furniture convey the feeling of having arrived home.

Tribute to Coke lovers
Who would have thought that: on the northeastern coast of Malta, English is not only the most spoken language, but also Coca Cola is very popular. Only in a few regions of Europe is the per capita consumption of cola higher than on the Mediterranean island. It is therefore less surprising that a local luxury hotel has dedicated one of its theme suites to the American bubble drink.

As a tribute to all that Coca Cola embodies, the trendy apartment on the 7th floor not only offers enchanting views of the harbour, but also represents a whole lifestyle based on relaxation, freedom and the 'American way of life'.

Guests enter the suite through a red door with the iconic white Coca-Cola lettering and suddenly find themselves on 'The Coke Side of Life'. The room captivates with its luminous pastel shades in blue and lime and is stylistically oriented towards the 1950s and 60s, in which Coca-Cola began its triumphal march around the world as a kind of liquefied soul of America.

Nostalgic Details & private Tasting Bar
The retro spirit of the unusual accommodation is particularly noticeable in nostalgic details, such as the old-fashioned black dial telephone, a soda fountain bar or the dining area with jukebox, Coca-Cola straws and coke crockery. Even the specially designed bed linen is sourced from the inexhaustible advertising fundus of the brand leader. The legendary spirit of the popular soft drink accompanies the guests every step of the way into their sleep.
'Taste the Feeling' also applies to the private bar, which instead of a traditional mini-bar is the pivotal point of the environmentally friendly designer apartment on the 7th floor.

The professionally equipped drinks counter theoretically offers everything you need as a bartender - including the typical mini-bar assortment with the obligatory ice-cold coke! This is replenished daily in the usual hotel quantity and is included in the room price. For those who want to use the bar according to the status quo, an alcoholic beverage stock is available for an extra charge.

Swiss kitchen dream: Love goes through the stomach

Cucina d'Amore | Unique kitchen themed love shack in Switzerland | Seductive hotel suite on Lake Lucerne with a fully equipped kitchen for aphrodisiac delights | This accommodation is really hot and comes with a kick. It is well known that love goes through the stomach - so indulge your passion and cook your partner with his favourite dish. All ingredients for an enjoyable and erotic stay are available (incl. whirlpool tub and sauna house)
Cucina d'Amore
Luxury Love Nest with fully equipped kitchen on Lake Lucerne (Switzerland)

It is well known that love goes through the stomach. This insight has inspired resourceful hoteliers on Lake Thun to create an imaginatively designed themed suite for couples in love.

The 'Cucina d'Amore' offers everything you need to seduce your partner with culinary delights. The ingredients for three elaborate menus are already available in the Mediterranean kitchen.

A relaxing bath in the wonderful corner double bathtub or the private sauna on the terrace with a magnificent view of the Bernese Alps and the lake is a 'dessert'. A sinful round bed promises dreamlike hours full of passion for the crowning finale of the indulgence orgy.

The 54 m² suite is one of a total of eight themed rooms, which above Lake Thun provide a romantic break for adults. Situated on a sun terrace 1200 meters above sea level, the complex does not want to be a simple overnight accommodation, but is a fine love oasis with hotel comfort in front of the mountain scenery of  Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
The lovingly arranged interior design was created under the expert guidance of a friendly theater prop master.

Those who adhere to the credo that cooking is 'the sex of old age' should, however, indulge in their hobby in a quiet room at home. In the 'Cucina d'Amore' cooking is not an end in itself, but an expression of love and devotion.

No one has to resist the temptation here if the seduction starts with the preparation of food. And of course it should be as stress-free as possible. Without tiresome shopping, searching for the right recipe or annoyance about missing ingredients.

For this reason, the suite not only has a fully equipped cooking block, but also offers 3 ready-made menu suggestions. Especially practical: the necessary ingredients are already in stock!

In addition to the kitchen, the facility includes a coffee machine, mini-bar, special lighting, erotic literature and a large-screen flat screen TV with an interactive Apple app (with a selection of free movies and music). In addition to a DVD and CD player, there is also a USB connection for your own music from the stick.

The ensuite bathroom provides sufficient terry towels and two cuddly bathrobes, as well as various bath additives for the whirlpool tub and aromatic infusions for the sauna; furthermore, free care products, a hair dryer, kleenex, cotton pads, massage oil and a massage sponge satisfy even the most demanding needs.

The overnight price includes two rich antipasti plates with cheese, salmon, ham, vegetable dips, bread and a bottle of Prosecco or Moscat for dinner, as well as a delicious fruit platter. Also included is a gourmet breakfast for two persons, which will be brought directly into the suite in the morning according to a pre-filled wish list. During your stay, coffee and drinks from the mini-bar (wine, beer, water, juices, soft drinks) are at your free disposal.

The hotel also has a kiosk at the reception, where you can stock up on the most important things in case there is no toothbrush or shaving lotion in your luggage. There is a restaurant outside within walking distance. No children are allowed in the suites.

Sleep in a converted vintage Cadillac from the 50s

American Drive-in Cinema Suite with bed in a Cadillac | Themed hotel room | This love nest for a romantic stay in California, decorated in the style of an American car cinema of the 60's, has an original Cadillac converted into a bed for a dreamy night in front of the big screen | Find out more or follow the board and discover many more theme rooms and unusual hotels in the USA
Automotive themed hotel Suite in California
Drive-in Suite
A themed hotel room in California keeps the American myth of the drive-in cinema alive

For all those who want to immerse themselves in the world of the 50's or to rediscover the era of rock' n' roll, this suite should be the perfect introduction to the past!

The age of boogie-woogie and petticoat already sets acoustic and optical' fragrance marks' as soon as you enter the scene: in the background rock' n' roll music rags while the eye is the first to perceive brightly coloured neon light and illuminated advertising.
The furnishings are modeled after a drive-in cinema, as was the case in America in the 50s fashion - with a parked convertible in front of the screen, a projector and an atmospheric snack bar!

Kilroy was here

The undisputed focal point of the room installation is the open, white Cadillac (built in 1956), which has been converted into a bed! At the beginning, the lovingly designed snack bar is the perfect place to play monopoly and listen to music over a glass of wine.

Afterwards, the private whirlpool and open fireplace fire provides relaxation before a classic film flickers over the screen, which can be enjoyed comfortably from the Cadillac.

You can choose from cinematic titbits of the fifties such as 'Grease', 'American Graffiti' or 'Rebel without a cause' (the classics par excellence). In the car you can cuddle up in a romantic way or finally realize your fantasies in reality. Whoever simply falls asleep in this Cadillac is to blame!

The Hollywood lettering on the wall also marks the door opener to the hidden bathroom, in which time-typical graffiti ('Kilroy was here') and a washbasin in the form of a radiator hood set original accents. It is hard to sum up the decade of Elvis-Tolle and Capri-Sun more authentically and vividly in a themed suite.
