Coconut Cream Pie Suite
This kitschy lodging north of New York City is a tribute to the 60s US-Sitcom 'Gilligan's Island'

Fancy a coconut cream cake? This unusual themed room in the Catskill Mountains just outside New York is inspired by the baking arts of a female protagonist from the 1960s cult series' Gilligan's Island'. The Robinsonade at seven stranded people on an island knows every child in the USA. And Mary Ann's coconut cake is a legend, of course!

In the eccentric hotel suite, guests can not only indulge in the nostalgic old TV episodes of the sitcom, but also experience what it feels like to spend the night inside a coconut cake. The ceiling of the room is modelled on a huge cream hood from which the coconut cream drips down into appetizing spots.

No wonder that even the air emanates a slight smell of coconut and enhances the surreal touch of the room. Those who have always been fascinated by the idea of being stranded on an exotic island will find their money's worth here - just like series fans and cake lovers who love cream orgies!

Ginger or Mary Ann? The choice for one of the two female protagonists from the American shipwrecked series 'Gilligan's Island' is not only a hard decision for the disgruntled fans of the sitcom from the 60s. To this day, it is still the common question of the preferred female type of American men, which has become anchored in the colloquial language over generations of television viewers.

Whether male or female, there is hardly an American without a clear standpoint on this question of taste.

As far as cooking and baking is concerned, and especially the preparation of dreamlike coconut cream cakes, Mary Ann is clearly favoured by connoisseurs. But her creamy creations were as utopian for a lonely island as a hotel with a room that feels and looks as if you were inside a cake - complete with creamy decorations and a tort ring-shaped bed. Kitsch for the one, but a true overnight stay dream for enthusiastic confectioners and uninhibited gourmets on the other hand.

Those who book a night in this literally tasty guest suite will be served the whole story. The story of a fateful journey that has cost seven exhausting months of development work! And the answer to the exciting question of how a blanket of whipped cream should look like. But such questions seem secondary when you are lying on the round bed and looking up. Then you just feel like spooning some of it!

The serial hero Gilligan embodied an intrepid sailor, but you can bet he would have melted like a creamy little cherry in the South Seas sun if he had seen the inviting cushions in the form of oversized cream spots on the bed! Due to its circular shape, it has a queen rather than king-size format. It is therefore advisable to spoon up the cake a little more thoroughly than usual.

All right, or any more questions?

A 50-inch flat-screen TV with DVD player is located on the opposite side of the wall opposite the bed to fill any existing knowledge gaps in American pop culture with a few illuminating episodes of' Gilligan's Island'. There is also a dining area with a small fridge, microwave oven and coffee machine. Because you probably need one or two cups of black coffee to' digest' the heavy coconut cream cream cream orgy!

To aptly describe the colour of the bathroom tiles, it is best to bring a soft idea of creamy coconut with beige butterscotch vanilla pudding. Combined with the seductively smelling coconut soap from local production, it could happen that the water runs through your mouth while bathing before you get your appetite. But not to let any false hope arise: the tiles are (unfortunately) literally tasteless, because 100% made of recycled car windshield glass!

Incidentally, the spacious bathtub in the unusual accommodation has a capacity of just under 322 litres of water (85 gallons) and is equipped with double shower heads. Nothing stands in the way of a bathing pleasure lasting several hours for 2 persons!

But the hotel in the foothills of the Apalachen is more than just the sum of a total of 28 themed rooms dedicated to almost all popular TV series. The hospitality of the best people is celebrated here, with a caring and attentive staff, impeccable equipment, free coffee in the morning, a manageable but very exquisite spa and many small treats that will make your stay unforgettable.
