Oh la la, what a view! From this romantic painter's studio you can enjoy the (painted) view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower undisturbed. The themed suite with illusionistic mural painting, easel and attic bed enchants with its French flair and makes an inhabited impression. In the background Edith Piaf sings her timeless songs. The artist seems to have just interrupted the work in order to leave you his home for a short time. 

A bottle of wine is ready to welcome you. He stacked his suitcases cleanly in one corner of the room. That's what it looks like at first glance, at least, because the artfully constructed suitcase mountain is an imaginatively disguised whirlpool: where else can you find such an original tub in a wardrobe trunk? Speaking of Moulin Rouge - the opulently decorated boudoir should also be mentioned, which can be considered a successful reminiscence of the legendary Parisian revue girls. A drawing by the French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who set an artistic monument to the dancers, can also be found on the bathroom tiles. In this accommodation you may feel the flair of Sacre Coeur and Montmartre more intense than in many hotels in the Seine city. 

The'Paris Suite' is only one of a total of six unusual themed suites and is located in a historic mansion dating from 1864, which was moved to its current location in the Santa Ynez wine-growing region in 1980 by Nipomo in California. More than 200 experienced craftsmen, craftsmen and artists spent almost 10 years designing the unusual hotel rooms. The fresco painter alone took more than two years (with over forty hours of work per week) to complete the wall decorations.

Hidden bathrooms, cast-iron spiral staircases, a 340 kilogram cannon coffee table, a gypsy cart, an Egyptian sarcophagus, a solid stone door weighing more than half a ton, a chariot and an original 1956 Cadillac convertible are just some of the many curiosities that make the Victorian villa an imaginative gesamtkunstwerk.

The original owner was a creative visionary. He renovated the neighboring hotel, a former Wells Fargo stagecoach stop, and thought up the theme suites that soon attracted guests from all over the world before the Santa Ynez Valley became a famous wine-growing region.

After his death, the present owner took over the hotel in 2007, which he himself had visited many years earlier. He not only saved the gem from decay, but also brought back the old splendour through an elaborate restoration. He shares his dream of a'Disneyland for adults' with the actual builder. Two more suites are planned for the future, a tree house suite and a'Castaway' suite, for which a sailing dinghy built in 1914 for the King of Denmark will be used.

The Victorian mansion is ideally located in the wine-growing region of Santa Ynez - a Californian wine region that gained international fame through the film "Sideways". Located directly on the 101 freeway, the small town is a perfect stopover on the way to visit Hearst Castle or San Francisco. 

Also from Santa Barbara or Los Angeles the property with its imaginative six suites is only a short romantic drive away.

Oh la la, was für ein Ausblick! Von diesem romantischen Maler-Atelier lässt sich die (gemalte) Aussicht auf Paris und den Eiffelturm ungestört genießen. Die Themen-Suite mit illusionistischer Wandmalerei, Staffelei und Mansarden-Bett verzaubert durch ihr französisches Flair und macht einen bewohnten Eindruck. Im Hintergrund singt Edith Piaf ihre zeitlosen Lieder. Der Künstler scheint die Arbeit nur eben unterbrochen zu haben, um Dir sein Heim für kurze Zeit zu überlassen. 

Eine Flasche Wein steht als Willkommensgruß bereit. Seine Koffer hat er sauber in einer Ecke des Zimmers gestapelt. So scheint es zumindest auf den ersten Blick, denn bei dem kunstvoll errichteten Koffer-Berg handelt es sich um einen fantasievoll verkleideten Whirlpool: wo sonst findet sich eine so originelle Wanne im Schrankkoffer?! Der perfekte Rückzugsort also für eine wundervolle Romanze in der Stadt der Liebe.

Freunde der schönen Künste haben vermutlich auch ihre helle Freude am gemalten Sonnenuntergang , der die Suite noch in freundliches Licht taucht, wenn draußen die kalifornische Sonne längst der Nacht Platz gemacht hat. Fast wie in Gustave Eiffels weltberühmtem Turm führt eine gußeiserne Wendeltreppe zum lauschigen Bett im Alkoven unterm Dach. 

Gußeisern ist auch der stattliche Kamin für das offene Feuer am Abend, bei dem man entweder Dominosteine legen kann oder mit einem Film (der TV-Bildschirm verbirgt sich diskret hinter einer Wandverkleidung) in das Paris des 19. Jahrhunderts eintauchen kann. Zur Auswahl stehen 'Gigi' oder 'Moulin Rouge'. 

Apropos Moulin Rouge – erwähnt werden sollte auch das opulent eingerichtete Boudoir, das als gelungene Reminiszenz an die legendären Pariser Revue-Mädchen gelten darf. Eine Zeichnung des französischen Malers Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, der den Tänzerinnen ein künstlerisches Denkmal gesetzt hat, findet sich auch auf den Badezimmer-Kacheln. In dieser Unterkunft fühlt man das Flair von Sacre Coeur und dem Montmartre womöglich intensiver als in manchem Hotel der Seine-Stadt. 

Die 'Paris Suite' ist nur eine von insgesamt sechs ausgefallenen Themen-Suiten und befindet sich in einem historischen Herrenhaus aus dem Jahr 1864, das 1980 vom kalifornischen Nipomo an seinen heutigen Standort im Weinbaugebiet Santa Ynez versetzt wurde. Über 200 erfahrene Handwerker, Handwerker und Künstler verbrachten fast 10 Jahre damit, die ausgefallenen Hotelzimmer zu gestalten. Allein der Freskomaler benötigte mehr als zwei Jahre (bei über vierzig Stunden Arbeitszeit pro Woche), um die Wanddekorationen zu vollenden.

Verborgene Bäder, gusseiserne Wendeltreppen, ein 340 Kilogramm schwerer Kanonen-Kaffeetisch, ein Zigeunerwagen, ein ägyptischer Sarkophag, eine Massivstein-Tür von mehr als einer halben Tonne Gewicht, ein Streitwagen und ein originales Cadillac-Cabriolet aus dem Jahr 1956 sind nur einige der vielen Kuriositäten, die die viktorianische Villa zu einem fantasievollen Gesamtkunstwerk machen.

Der ursprüngliche Eigentümer, war ein kreativer Visionär. Er renovierte das benachbarte Hotel, eine ehemaliger Wells Fargo Postkutschen-Haltestelle, und erdachte die Themen-Suiten, die bald Gäste aus aller Welt anzogen, noch bevor das Santa Ynez Tal zur berühmten Weinanbauregion wurde.

Nach dessen Tod übernahm der heutige Besitzer 2007 das Hotel, das er schon viele Jahre früher immer wieder selbst als Gast besucht hatte. Er bewahrte das Kleinod nicht nur vor dem Verfall, sondern brachte durch eine aufwändige Restaurierung den alten Glanz zurück. Seinen Traum von einem 'Disneyland für Erwachsene' teilt er mit dem eigentlichen Erbauer. Geplant sind zukünftig zwei weitere Suiten, eine Baumhaus-Suite und eine 'Castaway'-Suite, für die eine 1914 für den König von Dänemark gebaute Segeljolle Verwendung findet.

Das viktorianische Herrenhaus ist ideal im Weinanbaugebiet Santa Ynez gelegen – eine kalifornische Weinregion, die durch den Film "Sideways" internationale Bekanntheit erlangte. Durch die Lage direkt am Freeway 101, eignet sich der kleine Ort perfekt als Zwischenstopp auf dem Weg, um Hearst Castle oder San Francisco zu besuchen. 

Auch von Santa Barbara oder Los Angeles trennt das Anwesen mit seinen fantasievollen sechs Suiten nur eine kurze romantische Autofahrt.
