Champagne & Jacuzzi instead of annoying controls and fear of flying await the guests on board a propeller aircraft converted into a hotel in the Netherlands

Two unique luxury accommodations in the cockpit and stern of a decommissioned German naval aircraft have served as an unusual advertisement for a Dutch hotel since 2010. The military aircraft, originally used for naval reconnaissance and submarine defence, was mounted on a metal construction eight meters high after the conversion.

The inclined position gives the impression of an aircraft taking off straight. Inside, therefore, slight movements can be felt in strong winds. The two original suites with many original details inside the machine are each equipped with a lounge, mini bar and jacuzzi tub and offer amazing views.

Staying overnight in one of the suites in the converted aircraft eight metres above the ground is not only an exciting experience for aviation fans. How many opportunities are there to spend the night in the cockpit of a former maritime reconnaissance aircraft without having to do without hotel comfort?

On the contrary: the fascinating accommodation in the 32 metre long discarded naval plane has everything that makes a stay unforgettable. Instead of the original water bombs, sonar system and turboprop engines, both suites have flat screen TV, whirlpool, minibar and private entrance. From a comfortable bed to silence.

The aircraft, which was decommissioned in 2010, has two so-called "Bubble Windows" which, together with the glazed nose, facilitated visual reconnaissance. One of the special features of the model'BR 1150' is the entry into the glass dome between the two pilot seats, which for this purpose are further apart than conventional seats. The cockpit glazing is thus curved sideways outwards, which ensures a better view to the side and to the rear.

A lounge and rest area with a small kitchen and toilet was already part of the equipment before the conversion to accommodation, as the flight range could be up to 18 hours.

On arrival, guests will not only receive a small welcome gift, but also a glass of champagne to welcome them. During your stay, the sports facilities, the swimming pool and the sauna of the neighbouring hotel are available for free use. There is also a 20% discount on admission to the hotel'Wellness Boat', an exclusive and original spa & beauty resort in the form of a boat.

Together with a first-class restaurant, the hotel complex enjoys an excellent reputation beyond the Netherlands as a sports, wellness, party, conference and event centre.

For a romantic end to a successful evening in the cockpit or in the tail of an airplane, the hotel offers a bottle of red or white house wine, which is already available in the fridge of the respective suite. While everyday life and stress remain locked out, the special flair of this accommodation ensures new heights in the relationship.

The next morning the relaxing'night flight' over the'clouds' ends with a rich breakfast from the buffet, which is included in the overnight price. If the weather is nice, you can even have breakfast outdoors on the terrace.

From 229,- EUR per night for the Cockpit Suite (based on two persons,
welcome drink and champagne breakfast included)
