Travel to Italy and stay on private Paradise Island

Tonga Suite let you sleep on a round bed under the thatched roof of a genuine Polynesian hut
Isola Paradiso Suite
Spend the night under a thatched roof in a tropical Island themed Hotel Suite in Italy

Those who are touched by the longing for turquoise blue sea and fine sandy beaches will probably come very close to the fulfilment of their dreams in Turin (Piedmont). After a fully automated check-in, escalators lead upwards. A few steps and the goal is reached. Enter the access code on the keyboard next to the entrance, and in no time at all you'll be on Tonga, the oldest island kingdom of the Pacific!

In this themed suite you can feel like a king or queen in the South Sea paradise. An enticing view that is always worth a trip, because tropical destinations are recommended at any time of the year. Shells, tropical flowers, fishing nets and natural materials dispel any doubts: you are a guest in a genuine Polynesian hut! Through white-golden sandy beaches, the path leads to shared sensual experiences.

The round bed under a straw roof is as inviting as the clear water that fills the small private lagoon, where warmth and steam baths pamper the senses and no wishes remain unfulfilled. Afterwards a bridge leads back to the way where you can discover an archaic "platform": the comfortable hammock of the island fishermen! You have arrived, but you cannot stay in paradise forever. So enjoy the time together and use the precious moments of joy and passion!

Challenge your senses with surprising special effects that you can trigger using touchscreen technology. A simple touch suffices. The music and scenario control is intuitive and can be easily adapted to a wide variety of needs.

The luxuriously furnished room is equipped with a mini-bar, coffee machine, air conditioning and LCD flat-screen TV and offers access to a private terrace. Guests will also find an en-suite bathroom with sauna and a naturally embedded Jacuzzi in the dreamful designed indoor landscape.

Immerse yourself in a Swiss post-war barrack!

Travel to french Vosges and stay unique in the Swiss Donation Barrack | This historic themed cabin takes you back to the post-war era and provides the perfect destination for an impressive journey through time | Learn more on website or follow board for other unusual holiday homes
Swiss Donation Barrack
This unusual holiday home in the Vosges was designed to resemble a Swiss makeshift barrack from the post-war period

Anyone who is prepared to be transported back to the post-war period seventy years ago by the' Swiss Donation barrack' will be confronted with a repressed chapter of that time, which only older Vosges residents can remember from their own experience.
The overnight stay becomes a living history lesson and offers an opportunity to reflect on the attitude to life of the post-war years, when a large part of the homeless population lived in emergency shelters like this one provided by Switzerland.

Their houses had been destroyed during the Second World War and the men were taken to Germany for forced labor. A stay in the' Schweizer Baracke' offers a retro experience with a return to the essentials.

During their stay in the prefabricated wooden temporary accommodation, guests can immerse themselves in a playful way in precisely this time, which was marked by loss and hard everyday life, but at least promised hope for a new beginning.

The furnishings are reduced to the bare essentials. Two small bedrooms for four people, plus a kitchen with an enamelled stove (wood-burning stove) to cook small dishes or to heat water for dishwashing. When the weather is cool, the warm stove forms the heart of the new home, around which people like to gather.

Looking out of the window of this scaled-down reconstruction, one sees a farm in reconstruction and - as an allusion to the former liberators - a military truck driven against the tree by the Allies and then abandoned.

Everything was recreated in detail to give the interested guest a fascinating leap into the past. The founder of the connected adventure park spent years in such an accommodation himself. The "Schweizer Baracke" has simple toilets and a wash basin. The water for washing must first be heated in the boiler on the stove. For more comfort, guests will find their own private bathroom and toilet in the community building just a few steps away.

The aid organisation 'Don Suisse pour les victimes de la guerre' (Swiss Donation for War Victims) was created in February 1944 by the Swiss Federal Council to help the European population affected by the war. Swiss subsidies from state funds and private donations flowed until 1948.

When the Germans withdrew from France, they had pursued a burned earth policy and devastated everything on their way. The last 800 inhabitants of Bresse, mainly women, children and the elderly, were evicted from their more than 85% destroyed city on a winter night during the 'Exodus of Blancfaing'.

The Swiss designers helped assemble the first emergency barracks, then they passed on the plans and their know-how to the inhabitants so that the homeless population could build their own temporary accommodation. As none of these houses have been preserved in their original state, this realistic replica was created on the park grounds on the basis of original photos.

The property, which is authentically furnished with many contemporary 'props', provides two rooms with the first bed 55” and second two beds 47”, adjoining living room with real wood stove. Moreover, it is also fitted with private secluded garden and terrace with a view of the surrounding mountains of the Vosges.

Treehouse Eagle's Nest
An overnight stay in the 22-metre-high 'Eagle's Nest' on a plane tree in France offers spectacular views

The tallest tree house of the Normandy (and, by the way, the whole of Europe) is installed as a single accommodation for two persons in the crown of an oriental plane tree in the middle of the lush landscape of Calvado.

Easy Access is provided via a three-part suspension bridge (secured by networks) and ladder, but anyone who is prone to dizziness should better refrain from staying at fluctuating heights on top of the oriental plane tree. Guests must also carry a charged mobile phone and bring good hiking boots.

The intimate cabin on the 250-year-old tree offers just enough space for 2 adults from 18 years of age.

Furnishings in the 12 m² living room are reduced to the bare minimum and consist of a double bed, a mirror and several shelves. Bed linen with sheets, pillows and blanket as well as a towel are ready on arrival. In addition to a battery-operated lamp with 3 hours of operation, only candles are available for lighting. On the 8-square-metre terrace, next to a table and 2 chairs, there is a covered makeshift toilet and a small washbasin with five litres stock of water.

The limited space makes the accommodation interesting especially for people in love who are looking for proximity or eco-enthusiasts who do not need running water and feel that the lack of electricity and restricted lighting is an advantage. On cool days the tree house can be heated by wood or oil stove.

A set of binoculars allows you to admire the Norman skies, branches of trees and passing animals such as birds or squirrels.

Breakfast consisting of local organic products such as homemade apple juice, jam, fresh croissants and Pain de Chocolat is delivered to the tree house in the morning by a winch.

In addition to breakfast and aperitif (included in the overnight stay), you will also be able to choose the option delivered dinner and aperitif kit with cider or champagne. Normand dinner delivered hot to your hut includes local sliced sausage, confit leg of duck and pan-fried vegetables, organic Normandy tome and Normandy pie. All this accompanied by a good bottle of homemade cider from the farm of the nearby Château!

Discover the animal kingdom, let the birds sing you to sleep, taste organic products from the nearby organic farm or enjoy a glass of wine in the castle cellar. Or simply admire the view of the adjacent castle park and the canal from your towering tree!

Overnight stay for 2 persons incl. breakfast from 199,- EUR per night | Learn more on provider's website or book your unique stay here

Royal stay in the 'Queen Victoria 1869' Suite

Carriage Suite 'Victoria 1869' | Sleep in a real coach bed created in England on the occasion of the arrival of Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales by the renowned coach builder Cooper and was reconstructed in detail especially for this fancy lodging located in the heart of the High Sauerland region in Germany
Queen Victoria Suite
Stay in a themed Suite in Germany with unique coach transformed into a royal bed

The showpiece of this unique themed hotel room is the horse-drawn carriage 'Victoria', which was created in England in 1869 on the occasion of the arrival of Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales by the renowned coach builder Cooper and was reconstructed in detail especially for this fancy lodging located in the heart of the High Sauerland region.

In the 1880s the spread of this new carriage type with detachable coach stand reached its peak and was considered to be particularly elegant.

Let yourself be carried away by this extraordinary vehicle into the realm of dreams, because the imaginative special design turns out to be an original bed that gives royal glamour to each short stay. And to be honest: who has ever had the opportunity to spend the night in a well suspended coach?

As soon as you enter this original apartment with its splendid bed on wheels, you will be surrounded by a time when the clocks were ticking different. It was a time when people were still communicating with ink and pens, messages has been sent by post and craftsmen were giving artful shape to the things of everyday life. The regency of the English Queen Victoria also stylistically shaped the eponymous era, to which this 'royal' suite owes its inspiration.

Your stay begins in 1869, and where your journey through time takes you depends on your imagination. The furnishings of the three rooms are unique, representing the spirit of a bygone era and evoking nostalgic feelings.

Whether with or without patina: Romanticism has a home here! Furniture full of character that tells stories, you won't find everywhere.

In this "time capsule" guests can literally feel like royalty. Perfect relaxation naturally includes an extensive breakfast, which leaves nothing to be desired. Sauna, steam bath, solarium and an ambitious cosmetic and massage programme round off the original theme stay in the 3-star hotel.

Unique stay in a former Bomb shelter converted into vacation rental

Bomb shelter converted into holiday home | This minimalistically designed lodging in a former WWII bunker allows unique overnight stays behind meter-thick concrete walls | The multi-functional equipment has been designed to save space

Spend your Weekend in a WWII Bomb Shelter in the Netherlands

Where once protected from enemy fire, today up to four guests can spend two unforgettable nights in a unique environment protected by thick walls.

While the construction of the fortress was supposed to keep former attackers and enemies at a distance, the temporary residents of today expect a cosy stay in an unusually fascinating domicile. A well thought-out design concept makes it possible!

The semi-underground construction in the idyllic, green surroundings of the Dutch Rivierenland with its numerous historic fortified towns was part of the "Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie" during the war.

The entrance of the listed bunker is underground and makes the special history of this building unmistakably clear. To allow at least a little daylight to enter the interior, the once massive reinforced door was replaced by a transparent glass door.

The daring new use of the bunker as a "holiday home" of an idiosyncratic kind also demanded an original approach to the conversion. Thus one enters the nine square metre main room of the complex via the "kitchen", which is kept simple and modest but fulfils its task in a practical way.

For this purpose, an existing niche was used and a steel construction was devised, which allows all the basic functions required and offers storage space for the sink, two hotplates, as well as a shelf for pots, pans and supplies.

In the square living room and bedroom, in which up to four people can stay overnight, specially designed multifunctional furniture enables optimal use of space. The stools can also be used as side tables and the furniture can be moved flexibly, the beds can be folded up or down. Shelves and bed drawers provide storage space.

The practical design was inspired by Le Corbusier. All elements have double functions: Chairs serve as bedside tables, coffee tables or steps. Warm, light-coloured wood was chosen as the material, which contrasts with the rough "charm" of the concrete walls and gives the barren bunker ambience a cosy touch.

The limited living space and a room height of less than two meters force you to limit yourself to the bare essentials. There is no bath. However, overnight guests can use the sanitary facilities in a nearby building on the grounds.

Outside the bunker, a wooden terrace extends the limited interior space. With dimensions of 3.00 x 3.00 metres it is just as large as the habitable area of the bunker. The contrast between the massive bunker complex and the dainty-looking exterior platform gives an impression of the strength of the outer walls. The terrace offers not only an undisturbed panoramic view over the surrounding area, but also the possibility of barbecueing, sunbathing or simply "letting the soul dangle" in good weather.

For people with claustrophobia, the old protective structure may be less suitable, while fair-faced concrete fans and nature lovers will find it to their liking. For those who love peace and quiet and appreciate safe four walls, this hospitable fortress bunker near the Dutch town of Gorinchem is the perfect place.
